1. Day: Flight to
ISTANBUL
Transfer to hotel 2. Day: ISTANBUL
Full day city tour according. "Ottoman and Byzantine Istanbul" Full
day city sightseeing tour of Istanbul's monuments. It begins with
the Süleyman Mosque, the work of architect Mimar Sinan, and one of
the most beautiful mosques of the city. Then it continues to the
Hippodrome, a Roman arena where horse carriage races and gladiator
fights took place. You can see the snake column, the Egyptian
obelisk and the German fountain. Afterwards there is a visit to the
famous Blue Mosque unique for its exquisite blue tiles and its six
minarets. The program continues with a visit to Santa Sophia, one of
the most important church monuments in the Christian world. After
lunch we visit Topkapi Palace, the old residence of the Ottoman
Sultans which contains the treasures of the times. In the afternoon
there is a walking tour in the Covered Bazaar with its thousands of
shops unique in atmosphere 3. Day: ISTANBUL / ASSOS
Trip to Marmara Sea's Thracian coast up to
Gallipoli. We then cross the Dardanelle's by ferry boat to Lapseki
and on to the Biga stream, the ancient Granikos, to refresh
ourselves on it's shore. We continue to Troy, the ideal homeland of
Alexander and there we will visit the ruins excavated by the German
archaeologist Schliemann. 4. Day: ASSOS / IZMIR
Trip to Pergamum and a visit to the
Acropolis and on to Asclepieum. Continuation inland to Sardes,
homeland of the Persian Satraps and ancient capitol of the King
Croesus. We will visit this important ancient town and then we will
continue to Izmir.
5. Day: IZMIR /
KUSADASI
After a little trip around Izmir we continue
to Selcuk. There we visit Saint John's Basilica, the home of mother
Mary, the great excavations of Ephesus and the remains of the temple
of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the world.
6. Day: KUSADASI /
BODRUM
Trip along the Ionian coast and a visit to
Priene, Milet and the remains of the temple of Apollo in Didyma.
Then we continue to Bodrum, the ancient Halicarnassus, to visit the
remains of the Mausoleum, one of the Seven Wonders of the world, and
the Museum of Underwater Archaeology in the Bodrum castle.
7. Day: BODRUM /
KAS
Trip to Köycegiz and boat trip through the
reeds ending up in the opening of the sea, where the sea turtles put
their eggs. Then a visit to the excavations of Kaunos. We then
continue on to Fethiye and an excursion to the Dead Sea. After that
a continuation via Xanthos to Kas.
8. Day: KAS /
ANTALYA
Trip to Myra and a visit to the Saint
Nicholas church. Then we will take a boat trip to Kekova island and
continue over the Tarsus mountains to Termessos, the only place
Alexander couldn't conquer. After this tour we go to Antalya.
9. Day: ANTALYA
Day trip to Perge, Aspendos and Side, important ancient cities of
their time. A visit these places. In Aspendos there will be a
demonstration of Turkish handicrafts. There will also be the
possibility to shop for carpets and jeweler directly from the
manufacturer.
10. Day: ANTALYA
Transfer to the airport.
