1. Day: Flight to ANKARA
Transfer to hotel.
2. Day: ANKARA
A visit to the impressive Mausoleum of
Atatürk, founder of the modern Turkish
Republic and then a visit the Museum of
Anatolian Civilization with its display of
Hittite treasures and artifacts from one of
the worlds oldest cities Catalhöyük. Then a
visit to the very fascinating citadel of
Ankara which dates from the reign of the
emperor Heraclius. (610-41AD).
3. Day: ANKARA / KONYA
We will drive through the interesting
landscape of the Anatolian plateau to Konya,
the ancient Iconium. Here we visit the
Mausoleum of Mevlana, founder of the
Whirling Dervishes. After that we will
continue on to the Karatay Koran School.
Before returning to the hotel we will visit
Konya's Archaeological Museum which has a
rich collection of objects from the
Prehistoric Age to the end of the Byzantine period.
4. Day: KONYA / MERSIN
We will go to Adana through the Taurus
Mountains. En route there will be a visit to
Tarsus, the birthplace of St. Paul.
In Adana we will visit the Archaeological
Museum and also the stone bridge of Adana which was built during the reign of Hadrian.
5. Day: MERSIN / ANTAKYA
We will drive past the hilltop Crusader
castle and the port of Alexandrite (now
called Iskenderun) site of ancient Antioch.
Here we will visit the cave church where St.
Peter first celebrated mess. Antioch has a
world famous Museum of Roman Mosaics from
nearby ruins. This museum will also be visited.
6. Day: ANTKYA / URFA
From Antakya we drive to Urfa (the ancient
Edessa) where King Abgar the Great is
believed to have been the first Christian King.
The visits in Urfa include the citadel of
Urfa, Makam Ibrahim Mosque, where according
to legend, the child Abraham was hidden from
Nimrod. The last visit in Urfa will be the
town of Harran, an old testament location
where Abraham lived some time.
7. Day: URFA / NEMRUT
We will go to Adiyaman via Atatürk High Dam,
one of the largest in the world. It is an
awe inspiring sight. On the way to Nemrut
Dagi (Nemrut Mountain) we will pass an
almost perfectly intact wild mountainous
landscape. On the summit of Nemrut Dagi we
have the magnificent funerary monument of
King Commagene Antiochus I with statues of
God and Goddesses.
8. Day: NEMRUT / MALATYA
In Malatya we will visit two Places. The
first ones is called Milid (Aslantepe) an
excavation area. From this excavation area
many items have been taken to the Anatolian
Civilization Museum in Ankara. The other
visit is to Melitene (old Malatya).
9. Day: MALATYA / CAPPADOCIA
We will start with a drive from Malatya to
Cappadocia via the Honat Hatun Mosque in
Kayseri (the ancient Caesarea). The Honat
Hatun Mosque dates back to the 13th century.
We will then, amongst many others visit the
Döner Kümbet Mausoleum in Kayseri.
10. Day: CAPPADOCIA
We will drive to Ankara via Hattusa which
was the capitol of the Hittite Empire.
Besides Hattusa we will also visit the rock
shrine of Yazilikaya.
11. Day: CAPPADOCIA / ANKARA
We will drive to Ankara via Hattusa which

12. Day: Flight back from ANKARA
Transfer to the airport.
